Upgrading the Linux Kernel on Red Hat Linux systems
Last Updated: 1998/Dec/8
This document covers how to upgrade the kernel RPM's on Red
Hat 4.2, 5.x, and 6.0 systems. The focus is on the 80x86 (Intel) platforms as they are the most common Red Hat platforms. The document also assumes that the user is booting from LILO and that the kernel is the default from an install or earlier upgrade. Addendums cover the Sparc and Alpha systems.
