Get the book "How to shoot video that doesn't suck".
From chapter 26 of "How to shot video that doesn't suck" -- play with your equipment. Your camera and your video editor. You can't hurt either of them. Experience counts.
I ran across this tip list from "Riverside". Riverside is another video editor. I am using Davince Resolve, but these are good tips regardless.
Have plan. Make at least a loose script.
Set up your studio. Make things quiet. Plan for good lighting.
Test your equipment. Do a short test video before the real thing. This exposes all kinds of unexpected problems before they waste your time.
Shoot! Have an into, switch up shots, shoot an outro.
Finishing touches. A Preview image is important.
Save footage right away, don't leave it on your SD card
Edit, add music, add text and graphics, maybe this is when you add an intro/outro
